My recording sounds like if there is hacks in the CD, every single one.

Taskmaster,

Please use a real name.

Could it be that you inadvertently use the wrong input like microphone? Basically this is not an AOMrecord problem. It has something to do with your sound card or its drivers.

Are you running any other programs parallel? How high is the CPU loading?

I have looked at it, it can be it has nothing to do with your program, be cause I have seen CPU at 100% sometimes, i got a soundblaster Audigy2 Z5 for notebook and P4 3.2, maybe Im recording with the wrong compression, before i always save with ogg, but now I wanted WMA, but no I have troubles, but it seems only some are rcorded wrong not all. :?

With this little information I can't do very much for you.

I use WMA 44 kHz with 75% variable encoding all the time with very good results.

It sounds like there are some conflicts with background services running if your computer is being pushed to run at %100 CPU utilization. I have run into this issue before. Programs take longer to open and there may be some spontaneous "Not Responding" issues.

While it may not help and I am certainly not an IT person, in general it is my belief that Windows needs to be re-installed every once in a while. Perhaps not the most elegant fix, but it is the most dependable. Every year or so I reformat the hard drive and re-install Windows and then re-install the programs as I need them again and it is like having a new computer all over again.

After many years of trying to fix issues with Windows and software running on Windows, I have given up and just go to the "fresh start" approach.

I have been using AOMRecord for years and have found any issues I have are largely related to my own computer or to recent changes in the Internet music site.

Thomas does a good job of helping with the latter but really cannot do much for the former.

I certainly "feel your pain" but just offer the above as a general suggestion, not as a specific repair for your problem.

Yes, it certainly is true that Windows seems to behave strange from time to time and that there are cases when it needs to be reinstalled.

But normally the origin is some strange behaving software. Always think of what you have installed or changed before a behaviour accors that wasn't there before. A look into the software section of the control panel might help to identify the bad guy ;-).

Speeking for myself I can tell you that my current Windows XP Professional installation was first installed in 2000. Yes, it's true, installed in 2000 and still running. This is my everyday system for work and development and I transferred it from a desktop first to my third (or fourth) notebook meanwhile. I hope this never crashes! I probably had to reinstall more than a hundred tools and other stuff.

I have gone into the process of transferring all my software to a Vista system running on the same computer. I work on this job from time to time and I'm still not ready since a few months. BTW, I don't really like Vista, but as a software developer... Oh God, I hope my XP never dies.

I also have acomputer with Windows XP since 2004 and have not changed it, but I also do not put much on the system. I have two other computers though that everyone in the household use and there are always issues that are difficult to correct. I only offered the suggestion of re-installing as possible solution. Sometimes software installation and un-installation leaves so much "junk" in Windows that it is too painful for the average user to try and repair.

As for Vista, I am trying it out also. I like the ability to handle multiple monitors. The interface has a nice feel to it, but the lack of driver stability has been an issue.
